Become a Voluntary Counsellor

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer counsellor at Lifecraft?

What are we looking for?

You would need to be either qualified or in the final stages of your counselling training.

Time Commitment

You will need to be prepared to offer three counselling sessions per week all of which will take place at Lifecraft offices. You will be expected to attend one hour of external supervision and one hour of group supervision per month as well as bi-monthly CPD sessions.

Training

All prospective volunteer counsellors attend three training/assessment  days, for which there is a reasonable charge, during which time you and we can decide whether this is the right placement for you. Areas covered include mental health awareness, self- harm, suicide and working with abuse and dissociation. You will be required to attend all training sessions in order to be considered as a volunteer counsellor.

Benefits to volunteers

Each volunteer receives full training and supervision as well as expenses to cover travel and parking. You will gain valuable experience whilst working with this client group as well as regular short CPD opportunity and several longer training days per year.

Next Stage

Vacancies are not available all of the time but if you are interested in becoming a volunteer counsellor at Lifecraft please send us your contact details and we will be in touch.
