At Lifecraft we have a full-time Campaigns Officer funded by Comic Relief through which we carry out anti-stigma and awareness raising events, projects and campaigns. This work includes:
Our campaign websitewww.1in4.org.uklists annual World Mental Health Day campaigns, events and activities running throughout Cambridgeshire. It also has links to national anti-stigma campaigns such asTime to Change.
This website is also the home of our Big 1 in 4 Bus Campaign which provides a user-friendly directory of support services throughout Cambridgeshire. You can open this directory by clicking on the Big 1 in 4 Bus below.
We run South Cambs Users Forum (SCUF) to help keep mental health service users in Cambridge and South Cambs, as well as their carers and representatives, up to date with the latest topics and issues within mental health care, as well as give the opportunity to build a collective voice to campaign for change. Recent campaign work includes challenging the CPFT’s Service User Payment Policy and carrying out research into people’s experience of the Care Programme Approach (CPA).
Membership of SCUF is free and open to anyone who has used mental health services. Visit the SCUF website for more information about the work that it carries out and to complete a membership form.
Lifecraft plays a large part in running Making Mental Notes, Cambridge’s Mental Health Community Radio Programme which has been running since June 2008. It is produced by people with direct experience of mental health issues and addresses issues relating to mental health and wellbeing via news, discussions, what’s on bulletins, interviews, performances, book/film reviews and requests.Click hereto visit the latest show online.
Making Mental Notes has been a great success. It was profiled by LookEast earlier this year in the run up to Red Nose Day. Other publicity it has received includes a feature article in theCambridge Evening News in September.
Making Mental Notes is broadcast live for one hour once every four weeks on 105FM and the latest show can be listened to any time on the internet. However, at present the show is on hold because we are training new team members but hope to have the next show running in February 2010, so please watch this space.
